Harnesses
A harness is the agent program a session runs: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or your own. Mod finds the harnesses installed on a machine, drives them, and gives each one the same session and tools. How the harness pays for its turns is Inference.
Mod decides
- Mod detects which harnesses each machine has, and only offers a session the ones it can run there.
- Every harness writes to the same session log. Switching harness keeps the history and the holdings.
- A harness gets Mod's tools the way it expects them: over MCP for Claude Code, natively for Codex.
You decide
- Which harness and model each session uses.
- Your own harness, if you write one. soon
